What Adventure will you create in 2015?

Adventure 2015 MC

Whoa! We are halfway into January with the buzz of New Year’s resolutions, and crowded gyms already behind us.

As we get back into the flow of life, it’s a great time to ask ourselves about our vision for the year ahead. We will achieve so much more if we are intentional about where we want to go – rather than racing blindly from one day to the next.

What do I want to accomplish?
Where do I want to go?
Who do I want to serve?

To start answering these big questions – we first need to seek clarity on what we’ve already done. Yes – first – ask more questions! The BEST clues as to what will bring us joy, adventure and fulfillment in the days ahead are embedded in the life we have already lived. Below is a short list of questions to get you started.

I challenge you to carve out some time for your self, and start THINKING.

To a great 2015!

CGT Adventure 2015 questions

As a leader, what questions do you ask of yourself the night before the ‘Big Game’?

You know last night had to be a long night for both Dean Barker (ETNZ) and James Spithill (Oracle USA) on the eve of what will be the most epic battle in the history of sailing. Sitting in very different places looking at the same objective – they must have been wrestling with very different questions.

Dean Barker ETNZDean Barker – up 8 to 1 a week ago, with just one win between The Cup and his team & country. Now – bearing the mental burden of a staggering losing streak.

James Spithill USAJames Spithill – behind 1 to 8 last week after starting with a 2 point penalty – now riding the wave of one of the greatest come-back stories in all of sport.

And they meet this afternoon (pending wind) in the Super Bowl of sailing – Winner take all.

The Cup brings opportunities AND burdens that go above and beyond any other sailing competition. In addition to the sailing team and boat – there are hundreds (thousands) of people that have made each of these campaigns possible in these areas:
• Technology design, building & maintenance
• Business organization; sales, marketing, finance, legal etc.
• Fitness; nutrition, exercise, rehab
• Media
• Corporate sponsors & private supporters, not to mention…
• Fans with raging national pride

With all that on their shoulders…
 What are they thinking?
What questions kept them awake last night?
What questions did they wake up to this morning?
The questions they ask of themselves will bring clarity of priorities and focus. As stated in the NY Times article ‘Distilling Wisdom of Effective C.E.O’s’ April 17, 2011, ‘The greatest contribution a CEO makes to their organization may be asking the right questions.’

As a leader – what questions are YOU asking of yourself the night before the ‘Big Game’?

AC Stand off

Watch how Katie, RTLI and the progressive Sultan of Oman create leadership opportunities for women…

This morning I drove to my friend Kerry’s house to watch Katie, Raya and RTLI on The Jeff Probst Show! Near the end of the interview I was struck by a powerful, important statement Jeff made. When summing up Katie’s amazing life trajectory he remarked, “You are a hero! Katie, you said to yourself, ‘There’s not a path here, but I think I found one,’ and then you said, ‘Come on guys (gals!) – Let’s all go in’!”

That’s a very concise summation of the Rising Tide Leadership Institute.

As we build Rising Tide we will be able to inspire, engage, educate and equip thousands of women like Raya, and her Omani teammates, and HUNDREDS of thousands like the studio audience and viewership of the Jeff Probst Show. There is no lasting impact in Trail Blazing – unless you have opened up the path for many others to follow.

We invite you ALL to come on this Trail Blazing journey of equipping girls and women to be leaders who make a difference in their communities, countries and throughout the world. You can start by sharing this show segment with others!

A very special thank you to Amy Coleman, Executive Producer, and the entire team at The Jeff Probst Show, for helping us inspire women to lead lives of great impact.

Katie on JP - Kerry's

It was amazing to watch Katie tell the RTLI story today on daytime TV, at my friend Kerry’s house, in Leland Michigan! (Jeff Probst locates Oman on a map.)
